Description
The Laphroaig distillery was originally established on the Isle of Islay in 1815 and holds the Royal Warrant of HRH The Prince of Wales.
The whisky is matured for a minimum of 12 years and, at timely intervals, the Distillery Manager selects a single barrel of matured malt whisky to be set aside and bottled exclusively for Highgrove.
A barrel of whisky will fill approximately 280 bottles and each bottle is individually numbered, making each bottle unique.

About the Distillery:
The Laphroaig distillery was established in 1815 by Donald and Alexander Johnston. The Johnstons who founded Laphroaig were from the Clan Donald and are likely to be from the MacIain of Ardnamurchan branch of the clan. The family anglicised their name to Johnston. The last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery was Ian Hunter, a nephew of Sandy Johnston, who died childless in 1954 and left the distillery to one of his managers, Bessie Williamson.
